When I used to commute (as a stylist & blogger), I usually spend P1k+ a day riding cabs. Suicide db? Beat Summer Dryness with OLAY's New Collection!

I’m not a huge fan of summer. Sorry. I hate getting drenched in my own sweat (I am an excessive sweat-er), melted makeup, walking under the harsh sun, extreme heat, humidity, feeling icky, unmanageable hair, dryness of the skin, not being able to wear my favourite sweaters. I seldom go out during this season because I try to avoid all of the things I mentioned above. I might sound maarte but try having atopic dermatitis all the days of your life. It sucks. Anything could trigger my skin allergy—sitting on leather sofa, using a strong or scented soap, spraying on perfume, wearing clothes made of  non-breathable fabrics, excessive heat which makes me perspire a lot (tiny bumps usually appear on my wrist & nape!) and extreme cold.  Trapped for life. Haha! So between dying from heat stroke or from dryness due to extreme cold, I’ll choose the lesser evil!  I usually stay indoors and overcome my summer dilemma by basking in the comfort of our airconditioner.  But as I know & you must all know, long & extended exposure to AC takes away our skin’s moisture, making it dry & itchy. Sometimes, lotion or ordinary soap is not enough. That’s why I’m so happy to share with you OLAY’s newest innovation!

Bohol 204, Day 2: Work & Play

Here's the 2nd installment of my Bohol work trip! I was asked by Direk Jake Soriano to style Bellevue Resort's new ad materials and I immediately said yes! I've worked with Direk Jake (music videos for Polyeast Records) before and I've always had the best time, so it was a no-brainer na. Haha. When I learned we're shooting Bellevue, I got more excited! Brought Nico with me as my assistant. Buti nalang! Can't imagine carrying 2 huge luggage bags plus other bags all by myself. Kamusta naman ang scolio ko baka mag 100 degrees na db. Hihi. Anyway, our first day of shoot's calltime was 5am. You know I'm not a morning person so it was really, really difficult for me. But, nasurvive ko naman! Haha. Here are photos starting with my after lunch outfit after I took a bath... don't judge. ;)

Kicks Start

I think it's pretty obvious how my sneakers obsession came about. Comfort & Style. I just had to. Can't run in pretty heels right? It's just the perfect choice for "girls on the go" who are after functionality yet wouldn't want to compromise style. It's pretty amazing how you could play with this trend & interpret it into 101 ways. You could always go for dainty romantic ala Taylor Swift, grunge ala Cara Delevigne, high-fashion mala Rihanna.  Db??? Haha. Anyway, aside from comfort & style, budget should also be put into high consideration. Lalo na for budget conscious girls like me! I'm so glad to have discovered SM Kicks, SM's new sneakers line, who conveniently married all 3 components!

Singapore 2015 Photodiary: Budget Shopping, Gardens By The Bay & Going Home

Here's the last installment of my Singapore 2015 adventure! On our 4th day, we finally got the time to shop a little & enjoy the beauty that is Gardens by the Bay (my first time!). Our first stop was Anchorpoint mall at Alexandria road where the outlet stores of Giordano, Cotton On, Charles & Keith & Typo are found. Afterwards, we headed to Bugis for some more shopping! Since we are a big group, we decided to split, shop alone and just meet an hour later. Effective sha. Spent the rest of our day admiring flowers and green leafy things. Greenwich launches The #UltimateBandkada Search

Are you into music? Do you have a band? Do you spin? Then pay attention! Greenwich is introducing the first ever #UltimateBandkada Search– the search for the best bands that can get creative from playing musical instruments to mixing and mashing up genres! With mash ups of music like pop, rock, hip-hop and EDM, Greenwich believes that the best flavors of music can be fused into one super sound. Pier 6th sumali na kayo dito please. Haha.

Greenwich is inviting bands that may be composed of rappers, singers, instrument players or DJs to join the search that challenges them to mash up at least 2 of the mentioned music genres into one winning combination in one song.

Musicians from 18-35 years old have two ways of joining: 1. Send a link of a 60-second video of their band’s musical performance via www.ultimatebandkada.com or 2. Student musicians can visit one of several Greenwich #UltimateBandkada audition booths that will be popping up on campuses around the Metro. Students and non-students can go to the live auditions in these areas as well as at the Greenwich main office in Ortigas, Pasig City. Auditions will run from March 11-21 so keep an eye out for when the #UltimateBandkada booth will be popping up in your area. 
On April 23, Greenwich will announce the Top 8 bands that made the cut to compete for the title of Greenwich’s #UltimateBandkada. The bands each be given lyrics to a Greenwich song which they will create music for with their chosen music genres. The judges of the competition are some of the country's most esteemed individuals of their craft. The judges will be announced in the next months.

The public can also keep track of the bands’ progress through the videos that will be posted on the #UltimateBandkada website, newspaper features and special segments on MTV Pinoy. Everyone can also participate by voting for their favorite band from May to July.

From the auditions to the bootcamp, all the months of hardwork of the first ever #UltimateBandkada winner shall be rewarded by signing a record deal with the country’s top music label, VIVA Records, a management contract with Viva Artist Agency and a cash prize of PHP100,000. The second and third placers will receive P60,000 and P40,000 each respectively.

The experience couldn’t get any better. So what are you still sitting around for? Get the band together and start tuning those guitars and warming up your mixers for the hippest music competition yet. Your band might just be Greenwich’s first #UltimateBandkada!

Eligibility of Participants:

2.     To participate in the The #UltimateBandkada Search, interested and qualified groups must comply with the following:          
a.     Have a YouTube account: A representative of the group should have a valid and existing account in YouTube where he will upload their video entry.
b.     Visit www.ultimatebandkada.com
c.     Have read the full mechanics and registered through the mentioned website.
i.    A representative of the group may only register a group once and submit an entry via the registration page of the website (see details below).
3.     Hopeful contestants must be well versed on different genres specifically Rock, Pop, Hip Hop or EDM (Electronic Dance Music) disciplines.


How to join:
1.     Contestants can only join the contest via two audition methods: Online Submission and Live Audition.
2.     All submitted online and live auditions from March 9 to March 21, 2015 will be included for the preliminary review.
3.     A panel of judges will review all auditions to determine eight (8) Bandkada finalists
4.     Top 3 Bandkada will be awarded in the finale


How to win:
1.     Eight Bandkada finalists will be selected from the pool of submitted entries as the finalists who will perform at the culminating event in August 2015.
2.     Once formed, a Bandkada must create an original Greenwich theme song that contains elements from at least two (2) different genres the band used for audition.
3.     All eight Bandkada finalists will perform their original composition in the grand finale concert event in front of a panel of judges and experts.
4.     The top 3 Bandkada finalists, including the winner, will be determined by the judges score and online voting.


Audition Method1
Video Submission
1.     Take a 1-minute video of your band performing a song that incorprates two or more musical genres (rock, hiphop, pop, EDM, etc.).
2.     The designated representative should then upload the audition video on YouTube.
a.     Participants should upload their audition entries on their own respective YouTube accounts. Video should be viewable to the public.          
1.     After doing so, the designated representative must visit the #UltimateBandkada Search website (www.ultimatebandkada.com) and register the following information below:
a.     Band Name
b.     Genre
c.     Link to their band site (if any)
d.     Name of Representative
e.     Birthday
f.      Mobile
g.     Email
h.     Instrument
i.      Are you representing a school? If yes, what school?
j.      Name of Band Members, instruments, and birthdates.
k.     YouTube link of audition video.
2.     Participants who have registered will receive a confirmation email indicating the receipt of their entry

Audition Method 2
Live Audition
- On-ground live auditions will be setup to help contestants facilitate their entry

Audition Schedules will be from (March 16 to 21, 2015)
1.     Eligible contestants can join a live audition.
2.     During the live audition, contestants will be asked to accomplish the registration form and sign a waiver. (See attached registration and waiver form).
3.     During a live audition, the GW crew will record a contestants performance and will be included in the database.
4.     Audition materials shall be owned by Greenwich

Criteria for selecting the Eight (8) Bandkada Finalists
Musicianship: Band members are skilled in playing an instrument that goes with the genres chosen: 25%
Charisma: Contestants have an energetic and attractive personality: 25%
Voice Quality: Contestants have the vocal range to perform quality performances: 25%
Music Mash-Up: The way in which a band has seamlessly and beautifully blended together at least two different music genres to create an entertaining sound: 25%

#Bandkada Finals

Overview
All eight (8) Bandkadas will perform live to determine the winner and top 3 based on the judges score.


Beats, melodies and notes
Each, Bandkada must compose an original beat and melody for their song. The Bandkada finalists cannot use remixes or samples of existing songs for their original theme.


Criteria for judging

20% Originality Song uses original beats and melodies
30% Genre Mash Up Incorporating at least two more different genres - Pop, Rock, Hip Hop and EDM to create an original music
20% Audience impact Crowd reaction during and after bands performance.
15% Chemistry Shows a harmonious relationship and interaction between band members as they play on stage.
15% Stage Presence Impressive appearance and performance

Summer's officially here and I can literally feel the sun's rays going through my skin (and making serious damage) whenever I'm out these past few days. Experts say that using sunscreen daily is a must and I have always taken that for granted. You know, selective amnesia. I thought, I'm using moisturizer naman so no need na siguro. But no!!!
