Boracay 2016: 8 Reasons Why You Should Stay at Second Wind Bed, Bunk & Breakfast

I am a huge fan of hostels or cheap accommodations in general. Why? It's because there are a lot of decent places you could stay at that are actually super nice yet extremely budget friendly! When you're on vacation naman you usually spend most of your time outside the hotel, right? So, why waste money on pricey hotel rooms? Unless it's a staycation and your only plan is to stay inside, relax and watch TV, then go, indulge and gastos away. Haha. In our case, and in mostly all my cases, we just needed a home base. Someplace to sleep & bathe in. Second Wind gave us that and MORE! They were voted as one of the top hostels in Boracay. Here's why...

1. ROOMS

For this trip, we stayed at Second Wind Bed, Bunk & Breakfast! It's a fairly new (just over a year old) budget hostel in Boracay, located along Bulabog Road between Station 1 & 2. I love how it's a backpacker hostel with bed & breakfast feels. Posh & quiet, yet super affordable. This new hostel is managed and owned by the same group of friends/people who gifted budget conscious travelers like me the award-winning MNL Hostel! I already stayed in MNL before and I loved it. Second Wind's more special to me though because this is where we met amazing new friends who we really bonded with! :)

Love the dorm room! Loving the pastels and the colors:)

We were 12 in the group so we got the whole Dorm A (8 beds), the private twin room at the 2nd floor and 2 extra dorm beds (in another room). Dorm beds are priced at P700/night.

Huge mirror inside!

 Bathroom #1 inside Dorm A

Just roll up the window shades if you want some sun or natural light!

Bathroom #2

Freshly cleaned by Kuya George hehe

I was actually quite surprised that their dorm rooms have ensuite bathrooms! Most hostels I've been to have shared bathrooms and they're outside the rooms. So yey! They also have a common bathroom outside, sa common area. More restrooms, more fun!

There's also a ceiling fan & A/C inside the room

Each bed has a socket, light, locker, pillow, sheets and towel!

Just don't choose the bed opposite sa aircon! My friend nearly froze to death. Haha. The beds were comfy and soft, as well as the pillows and sheets. Worth it for the price!:) I also love how the staff cleans the room and bathrooms everyday! :)

It's clean!

 Shower!

Stairs going to the 2nd floor :)

Private twin bed room for P2,200 per night

Ensuite bathroom with hot shower

Super comfy beds! Towels provided. There's also a blow-dryer on the dresser. My sister was so happy!

Stayed in the private room for 1 night and then had my sister and cousin stay in it for the remaining days. Nico and I slept in the dorm with the others. We were able to save on accommodation because we divided the total by 12 equally. Paid P1,750 each for 4N/5D. Not bad!

2. Amazing + Extra Service (not what you think! haha)

They have a bulletin board where they post announcements-- activities, discounts, ongoing promos, events. We were also able to borrow hats (when needed) and beach towels! So convenient!

3. Free Breakfast

Kuya George prepping my breakfast!

This is the self-service kitchen where free breakfast is served everyday. I love how they make an effort to cook for guests. The food is also a surprise! Sometimes, typical toast, egg, coffee, tea & jam/butter lang (just like in other hostels). But I'm so swerte because I was able to experience bacon day! Yipee! Aside from bacon, they also serve pancakes and fruits. Healthy and delicious!:)

Different spreads for your bread! YUM! There's also free coffee & tea.

Happy kids! Nakasave kami on food coz of the free breakfast everyday!

Happy morning! Most important meal of the day daw to. It's lunch for me, though. Haha! But this is nice. :)

4. Location

Upon exit, when you turn right and walk straight, you'd reach BULABOG Beach! Nico and I go here to watch people kite surf and whenever we want some peace & quiet. This beach is not ideal for swimming. You could, but you might get hit by kite surfers. Hassle yun. Haha.

Now, if you want to swim or eat, WHITE Beach & D'Mall is only a 5-minute walk from the hostel! Turn left from the gate, walk straight, cross the street and enter the alley at the right side of the sari-sari stores. Landmark is Patio Pacific Hotel! You'd emerge sa beach na between Station 1 & 2. Beach landmark aside from Patio Pacific is TGIF resto.

My bro Joot & cousin Pat with the new girlfriends. Joke. Haha.

 Why I love Boracay! Hehe.

5. Exclusive discount at Tibraz, Damiana's, Beach Pub + Free use of their sun beds!
15% discount on all food & drinks!

Papaya shake fix

Don't forget to show them your room key!:)

6. Cheap food places near the hostel
 OMG! Carinderia with a view!

Discovered this place while on our way to Bulabog Beach! Got enticed by green lake/pond:)

Love the view! We only paid P200 for our food:) Ordered spicy bangus & longsilog:)

 Hi guys haha

You can also order from KUBO and have it delivered sa hostel!

7. Free MNL Hostel access!

Second Wind guests could join MNL Hostel's activities! :) They had a BBQ dinner party /event. We didn't join the dinner party but we went there for drinks! We were even given free drink stubs by the Second Wind staff. Yey! One of the highlights of our trip! We met so many new people and made new friends. :)

MNL rooftop

Manila-China-Germany-Poland-Turkey-Russia-France-USA reprezent! Hello Sirin, Bei, Alex, Bobak, Arek and the others! :)

One of them, Arek, owns a hotel in Poland. Go check it out guys! Baka meron sa inyo pupunta dun. Haha. Here's the link! I can't believe their cheapest room is just P1900 per night! In fairness.

8. Customer Service
Hello Cristine & Rizza of 2WBBB! Thanks for being nice!:)

Their staff are very helpful and accommodating. They even go out of their way just to make our stay comfortable and memorable. I'm sorry Kuya night shift if we're makulit and if we made so much noise! Super fun kasi! :)

Some comments & suggestions:

*It might get a little noisy at night because of the bar & grill in front of the hostel. There's a live acoustic performance every night. It ends at around 11pm though.

*Hostel has a policy that voices should be kept to a minimum after 10pm. Had a hard time with this policy haha. Wish they had a rooftop or a separate area away from the rooms where guests could tambay after 10.

*No free water when we were there but it's just because of the broken dispenser. We could have saved more money from buying bottled water if it was working. It's no biggie though!

For the price and convenience, this place is already a winner. Its' one of the best hostels or hotels I've ever stayed in! I highly recommend this to budget travelers like me who wants to meet new people,  but also needs some peace and quiet. Thank you Second Wind for an amazing stay! One for the books! Can't wait to be back. :)
