ROXY Wants You to Dare Yourself!

Following the success of last year’s "Let The Sea Set You Free" contest, Roxy continues its quest to find inspiring and creative ladies who aren’t afraid to make their mark. Being a women-empowerment brand, Roxy, a division of Quiksilver, Inc., launched a global social media campaign to invoke the spirits of women and challenge them to push the boundaries and embrace a carefree life.

Roxy's contest last year inspired Filipinas all over the country. With 71 unique and one-of-a-kind entries sent in the course of four months, five young ladies were hailed as the finalists to represent the country for the global contest.

This year, Roxy invites Filipinas once again to express themselves and get a chance to win a trip of a lifetime together with Roxy pro-athletes, monetary prizes, and tons of Roxy apparel. The globe will be divided into five regions namely, North America, Latin America, North Asia, South Asia and Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

This contest already started last January 25 and will run until June I think (check Roxy's page to be sure). Ladies aged 18 to 28, from all corners of the Philippines are invited to enter the Dare Yourself contest on Roxy’s Facebook page. Submit a 150-word essay, and three photos or a one-minute video outlining how you “dare yourself” to dream big, lead a unique lifestyle, and carve your own path

On March 29, users will get to vote via Facebook to narrow the entries to their top 150 favorites. A panel of Roxy judges will then choose ten finalists per global region, who will be asked to create a video challenge. The global judging panel will choose five winners and one winner per global region.

Throughout the duration of the contest, ladies are free to participate in weekly, inspiring dares, and post these images to social media channels to utilize the hashtag: #ROXYDARES. Mukhang masaya to, let's all try this out! You and your photo might even inspire others:)

So what are you still doing there sitting infront of your computer? Go out and be a Roxy girl! Then photograph / film yourself while you're at it. You just might win big this year! :) Be a part of Roxy’s campaign to ignite the spark in each young woman all over the globe. Dare yourself to dream big, lead a free-spirited lifestyle, influence others, and make your mark. Because remember, you only get to live once! YOLOOOOO!

Me, You, We are all Legends.

I hope you've all greeted Rayban a very happy 75th birthday!!! As part of their celebration, as I've mentioned in THIS post, they recently launched a campaign titled Rayban LEGENDS. I, along with 10 other bloggers, was chosen to be part of this project and we were asked to channel a legendary person we look up to. It was actually a no-brainer for me. Heh. I'm not sure if you've already seen Vern as Audrey Hepburn , Sarah as The Blues Brothers and Lissa as Madonna, but the girls looked amazing if not legendary! As for me, I've chosen one of my favorite style inspirations as my "icon", the forever fabulous TWIGGY!:)

Thrifted dress, Jhajing collar, Bedazzle bangle, Gift from Mich's mom shoes, RAYBAN sunglasses!

I'm not sure if you all know her, but TWIGGY is known to be one of the world's first supermodels and a fashion icon. She started modelling when she was 16. People thought she wouldn't make it, nobody believed her except maybe for her parents, but 50+ years later she's still the icon that she was back in the 60s. With her androgynous & unique look plus her quirky fashion sense, she has shown the world that being different can take you places.

Still at the peak of her career, she quit modelling stating, "You can't be a clothes hanger your entire life!". She decided to risk it, dropped her lucrative career and tried out acting and singing. With just her confidence and winning smile, she thrived and came out of it all as a winner. Fast forward to now, she's still in the forefront of fashion. I'm sure you've seen her shine as a judge on America's Next Top Model! She also launched her newest album November of last year. :) Her fabulousness just never stops and transcends the decades. The best part? She uses her influence by encouraging people to take part in animal welfare protection and breast cancer research.

The sixties were a time when ordinary people could do extraordinary things...!
- Twiggy

As for me, like Twiggy, I never felt the need to change myself or pretend to be something or someone I'm not, or adapt to what's "standard" or "normal" to achieve happiness or success. From day one, in blogging or styling or growing up, I've been ME. Like her, I've risked enough to finally know what will make me happy, what will make me grow and what makes me a better person. When it comes to my career, I pretty much know where I stand and I know what I want. In summary, I let go of my stable and high paying job to pursue my passions, and I've never been happier in my life.

The hardest question in this challenge is this: How can you be a legend? I don't know if I'd ever be one or if I am already one. Guess I'd only know when I leave this world. Hehe. What I do know is that one need not be a Twiggy or an Obama or a Ninoy Aquino to be a legend. A legend is someone who live to inspire others, someone who leaves an impression so deep not even death could bury his/her tales. Someone who has touched hearts or souls, someone who changed other people's lives for the better.

I don't know if I'd ever reach such stature, but I would continuously strive to be one. I believe I'm treading the right path as I try to excel in my chosen fields and be the best version of me. By working on my dreams within reason, without stepping on other people and by lifting others up. I am not perfect and I make errors along the way, but I consider each one of them a building block to my foundation. I acknowledge the fact that this life is temporary, borrowed, and at the end of it all I will be questioned how I spent the gifts He gave me. So everyday I tell myself, "How can I change the world today?".

I spent years questioning my purpose in life and now I finally know. I use my blog as an avenue to inspire other people through my stories--career, love, travels, life-- and to use whatever influence I have to get this message across-- LIFE IS NOT ALL ABOUT ME OR YOU. The biggest legends are those who didn't live only for themselves, but for the betterment of others. Each one of us, in our own little way, has the power to change the world. We just have to believe enough and act on it. You don't even need money to do it, sometimes time and effort is enough.

But to become a legend one must first be free. How could one conquer the world if she/he can't conquer herself/himself? When you've discovered and make peace with yourself, that's when you start living by faith, that's when you find happiness, that's when you could finally open and offer yourself to the world. :) Just like Rayban's famous tagline, NEVER HIDE. Each one of us has a hidden shining star! :)

Have you found your inner legend? I would love to hear your inspiring stories:)

Divided Attention

The 2nd Blogger's Bazaar is only 2 weeks away! I have not been sleeping well especially when I know I still have a gazillion things to do. That's why my phone is permanently on silent mode--message/call alert tones are now heart attack inducing to me. :/ Argh. Anyway, here's a random outfit post I found in one of my folders. I was kinda hesitant to post it coz I don't think it's that blog worthy? But whatever, I think it's preppy chic and it needs to be seen! Heh.

thrifted Comme Des Garcons shirt, DIY collar, Payless oxfords, Fabmanila bag, Mauve bracelet

Love the black and red combo forever!

This rope necklace is a recent online buy from multiply store Martina Martina. They have lots of gorgeous accs so go check them out!:) The leather bowtie, on the other hand, is a gift from my favorite PR guy/blogger Paul! I'm addicted to his blog not only because he's the CEO of a PR company, but also because he's super fasyown and I love how he breakdown his expenses after every post. Heh! AND he's a shopaholic too. Haha.

Some few announcements/events you wouldn't want to miss!
AS IF! Boohoo

And now some random photos I grabbed that currently inspires me:)

Again, hope you guys could come! It's an exclusive shoot and slots will only be limited to 20. This will also run for 2 days. The Sanrio themed shoot is on November 13 and Studio 54 is on the 14th. I will again be styling for this so hope to see you guys there! Text BNS at 09175707808 or 09175179172 to reserve slots. :)

So anyway, I had a last minute styling gig last Wednesday for a big "sporty" brand (thank you argie and jear for passing it on to me) at The Collective, Makati. Think Jansport but not Jansport. Guess it's obvious. Lol. I was so nervous coz I only had a few hours to prepare (yes, it was that last minute!) and the models are not really models but real people who've achieved a lot and have different advocacies. I'm such a sucker for that. This is also for their 2010 campaign which will be advertised and distributed to the media. Think posters, stickers, parties, etc. etc.! So, yeah I nearly had a panic attack. Especially since I'm used to going to shoots prepared with the clothes already in sets. It was a good thing that their organizer helped me through it and explained everything to me. So I made a quick run to SM department store to buy some props. I also hate going to shoots alone coz it makes me sad, so I'm really glad that Melai tagged along to also help. Thanks Melai!

Sit down interview with one of the "leaders" environmentalist Jukka Holopainen conducted by Marga Deona

One of the "leaders" artist/designer Ronald Pasion with his artistahin siberian husky! Cuuute:)
This is one of the best shoots I've ever been to. One, because it's for a huge campaign which I'm all for. Two, it's for one of the best brands in the country. Three, the models are all inspirational people who all stand for something. And lastly, the team was sooo supportive and fun to be with! The photographer Dix Perez took amazing photos and edited the pictures right then and there! I already saw the final photos or more or less how it would look like when released, so I'm already excited for it's launch. Will let you guys know how the media launch on Nov. 11 will go:)

Lunch was provided by The Pasta Box! Yum.

I wasn't able to take more photos coz we were all busy chatting and eating. Hehe. Here are some more BTS...

After the shoot, I had to run to SMX for 2 meetings--one is with the fashion week team for a last minute (again) styling stint for the Ipanema show the next day, and the other for my new job as web editor for Fashion Depot!

with the owner of Auxmanila!=)

Surprisingly, that day, I really didn't give a shit as to how I looked even with all the fasyon people around. I love it. Haha. Haggardness galore but so what at least may fab reason! =P Melai and I also watched SM's show but we were so tired that we weren't able to really enjoy it. So we went home afterwards.

I suck at taking runway photos, I'm either too slow or too obsessed with deleting ugly photos that I miss important runway moments.

 Jessica looks cute!
