How to Pack for a Romantic Weekend Away

Whether you have a special birthday or anniversary coming up, or just fancy some quality time away from the daily grind, any excuse is the perfect excuse to get away for a romantic weekend!

A country house hotel retreat is the ideal choice for a romantic escape. Imagine snuggling up in front of a roaring fire and talking long walks in the countryside – it’s a scene that’s set perfectly for romance. Arrange the champagne on ice, the rose petals on the bed and the table for two at 8 and you’re almost there. All that’s left to worry about is packing a weekend bag that’s suitable for your weekend love-in. Here’s what you’ll need:

For Men
It’s easy to marry dressing for style with dressing for warmth with a chunky knit cardigan layered over a T-Shirt and a pair of jeans or chinos. You can choose from a selection of men’s cardigans at George at ASDA, including the South Dean Street Chunky Knit Cardigan, which is now reduced to just £9.50 (all the more cash to splash on those little romantic luxuries!).

Also on offer you’ll find fine knit cardigans in black and grey, a snip at just £5, and ideal for cozy pub lunches or pre-dinner drinks in the bar.

Unless you’re planning on some serious hiking expeditions, a good pair of chinos will do just as well for a romantic stroll as they do for dinner.

However, if you have plans for a posh restaurant, only a suit will do if you want to impress. Find great value separates from just £9 at the ASDA Suit Shop.

Don’t forget that, on a lover’s trip, what you wear underneath your trousers is just as important! You can’t go far wrong with a pair of snug fit black trunks. Leave the novelty boxers at home – the last thing you want is to raise a laugh in that department!

For Women
Knitwear is again the order of the day. The Heart Knitted Tunic in cream or navy is the perfect choice, and will look great with leggings and a pair of Uggs or wellington boots. Alternatively, a fine knit waterfall cardigan over a simple jeans and vest top combo looks relaxed yet stylish.

When evening falls, take the opportunity to dress up. Have a look at the Moda range at George at ASDA – the Floral Panel Illusion Dress is a sophisticated yet feminine option, whereas the Drape Party Dress in romantic red will create and showcase curves to their best effect.

Of course, your suitcase will need some lingerie, but there’s no need to break the bank on fabulous new frillies. The sexy Kiss range has a bra (£8), thong (£4) and babydoll (£12) for a fun, cute look.

Don’t Forget!
As well as suitable clothes, there are other little luxurious extras that can make a weekend away extra special. Why not pack a scented candle, some fresh rose petals from the florist, bubble bath, massage oil and a selection of other naughty but nice treats for a night to remember?

Then toast to a nice and delicious bottle of champers! Have fun!
