Home Away from Home: Tag Resort Coron Palawan Review + Island Hopping Tour

My first ever  Coron, Palawan trip was last December with DOT Mimaropa and it was an amazing experience, didn't think I'd go back soon-- this time for TAG RESORT Coron! Last August, I went back to this beautiful island paradise with a few PR & content creator friends. I already visited the resort last December, but it was just a quick peek. So when I got invited back by the resort itself, I was super excited! Best part? I get to stay in their luxurious Tadhana villa. Stories & photos below!

The trip was organized by my friends Denise Mallabo & Dana Santos of Happy Consultants. According to them, this trip was supposed to happen last 2019 but the pandemic happened. So glad that tourism recovery is now gaining momentum! This means more business and livelihood to locals.

Anyway, we met super early in the morning at Terminal 4, checked in our bags and then chika galore while waiting for boarding. Our flight got delayed but no worries coz we didn't really have any itinerary that day. Love trips like this!

Set against the panorama of the Philippines' enchanted paradise, TAG Resort is the perfect takeoff point for the ultimate Coron experience. Located in Sitio Dipulao, it's just a few minutes away from the airport & Coron town.

The rustic theme of the resort pays homage to nature & local culture, with borrowed elements from Tagbanua lore, Mindanaoan art & Filipino craftsmanship. With 112 well-appointed rooms and casitas, a lagoon pool, a poolside lounge, a sprawling commercial strip, an iconic Tree of Light, a convention center, and a main ballroom that can accommodate up to 500 guests, TAG Resort Coron is a destination on its own - much like the enchanted island it calls home.

It was super gloomy & raining the whole week, so it was a miracle that the skies cleared up on the day of our island tour! TYL. It rained but during the end of our tour. We were still able to enjoy all the sights! :)

#PaxAna in Coron!

I already blogged about island hopping in Coron, so I will just copy-paste my captions from my December blog! Hehe. Anyway, our first stop was KAYANGAN LAKE!

Hi guys!

Dubbed to be the cleanest lake in Asia, Kayangan Lake is located in Coron & Calamian Islands. This raw beauty is a crystal-clear freshwater lake with magnificent underwater rock formations, limestone cliffs, caves, and islets. Along the way to the lake, you can rest and take some time gazing over the breathtaking Coron Bay! The entrance fee is P300.

Resting for a bit coz kafagod! Also streaming "Bad Decisions" by BTS pampagana haha

Ajumma vibes yarn haha

Crystal clear water! Was also able to swim longer this time!
Awra with the girls

After the sweat-inducing hike, a refreshing swim!

Love this spot!

BARRACUDA LAKE

Located on the north shore of Coron island, this famous dive site enclosed by limestone cliffs is famous for its deep, crystal clear water that also gives you an extraordinary experience because of the changes in temperature and salinity -- known as thermocline and halocline. I swear it's like being transported to a different world. Avatar feels! Hehe. The entrance fee is P200 and the guide fee is P500.

Happy kids swimming

Saw these mobile sari-sari stores on our way to the Lagoon! They sell snacks, juices, water & beer

TWIN LAGOON

Just a 10-minute boat ride from Kayangan Lake, this magical spot offers both a relaxing and thrilling experience, not to mention a majestic view! Enclosed inside towering limestone cliffs, you have to swim underwater through a hole to get inside. Your head could stay above water when it's low tide. It might not be advisable and a bit dangerous if you're claustrophobic or easily panics. Just in case, there's a wooden staircase above the rocks giving visitors another option to enter. Once inside, one thing I noticed is the changing water temperature. Water could be ice cold one minute and then super warm the next! So beautiful & peaceful.

Thanks Thea for taking this photo!

After visiting the 3 lakes, we headed to Banol Beach for lunch! It's a small stretch of sandy white beach surrounded by a majestic backdrop of limestone cliffs. There are cottages on the island where visitors could eat.

Our delicious lunch prepared by our boatmen! Ate so much omg

Island dog I named Polgoso hihi cutie

There are quite a few huts and you can swim before or after eating too!

We were all tired & feeling cold (coz of swimming & the rain) so a dip at the Maquinit Hot Spring was just the perfect way to cap off our day!

Finally got to enjoy the water this time!

Also got to check out this bamboo bridge & mangroves

Finished our day with a nice dinner at Buntag resto & drinks by the pool! We wanted to drink & hang out longer but it rained hard so we all decided to call it a night. Overall, it was an epic and healing trip. Thank you again Dana & Denise for bringing us here! It was also my first time bonding with Angel, Miguel, Martin & Thea, and super bitin our kwentuhans. Hope I could travel with this fun bunch again. :) Thank you TAG Resort for such an amazing stay & experience!  Can't wait to be back. :)
