Cebu / Sinulog Day 4: Viva Pit Senyor!

There's a slight error in my last Cebu post, it should be Day 5 instead of 4. My bad! :/ Anyway, here's what happened on Day 4 -- Sinulog Festival + Ana's birthday!!!:) We got up earlier than usual coz we wanted more time to bond with Aie before she leaves for Manila. It sucked that she wasn't able to witness the craziness that was Sinulog, but then we're just glad we got to bond with her even for a few days:) Here are photos!

Island Souvenirs cut & style shirt, Next Jeans shorts, Liz Claiborne bag, Thrifted boots

Casio watch, Anagon YOLO & gold skull bracelet, Therapy Bags necklace used as bracelet, Bead Shop travel bracelet

I'm happy to say that the only casualty from the pieces I wore is my Island Souvenirs shirt. Hehe. Oh, and my boots! But I think I could just scrub the paint away. Hihi. Buying this shirt was the wisest shopping decision I ever made during our trip. It saved me from heat stroke (it's so presko!), it's super stylish and it served as our 1st Sinulog experience souvenir! Not bad, not bad. Bought the shirt for less than P400 and had it DIY'd, for free! :)

Anyway, here are the rest of the photos!

Went back to the hotel to rest for an hour

Tracy and the others were already at Baseline (party central) around 3pm. But Mich, Ana and I decided to immerse ourselves in Cebuano culture and take part in the real thing. So we braved the busy streets and watched the grand parade. For those of you who don't know, here's a detailed description from Wikipedia:

"Sinulog is an annual festival in Cebu every 3rd Sunday of January. The festival commemorates the Filipino people's pagan origin, and their acceptance of Roman Catholicism. The main feature is a street parade with participants in bright coloured costumes dancing to the rhythm of drums, trumpets and native goings to celebrate and honor the Santo Nino. The Sinulog celebration lasts for nine days, culminating on the final day with the Sinulog Grand Parade. The day before the parade, the Fluvial Procession is held at dawn with a statue of the Santo Niño carried on a pump boat from Mandaue City to Cebu City, decked with hundreds of flowers and candles. The procession ends at the Basilica where a re-enactment of the Christianizing (that is, the acceptance of Roman Catholicism) of Cebu is performed. In the afternoon, a more solemn procession takes place along the major streets of the city, which last for hours due to large crowd participating in the event."

jeepney ride to Fuente. Or was it Osmena? I think it's Fuente hehe.

we got stuck in traffic so we decided to just walk

we were welcomed by a thick crowd

passed by  roving carinderias (forgot the better term haha)

bought hats as temporary refuge from the unforgiving sun!

we walked and walked

spotted: kuya wearing Nick Automatic!

Sto. Nino under a Penshoppe logo!

It was scorching hot. As in hulas na hulas na hulas na kami. So we decided to take a break at Mich and I's favorite fastfood resto, Orange Brutus!

We loooove Orange Brutus!

And then we braved the crowd...and then the heat again. Tuloy ang penitensya. Hehe.
I really thought may nagsetup lang ng giant library dun.

nainitan din sports  bra ko kaya naghehello sha. Lols.

Baseline at 5pm! It was our first time so we really didn't know what to expect. Now I know! It's like a huge frat party. Wild! And FUN. Lakas maka HS or college! Lavet.

you're in Baseline na when things don't make sense anymore and weirdness everywhere. Hihi.

Walked some more and here's where our feet and the noise led us..
HERE!

hondoming bagets!

It was Ana's bday so I wanted her to have the bestest time. Kahit 2 lang kami (Mich left after 1 hour of walking back and forth haha) we still managed to make our Baseline stay worthwhile and kinda epic!!! Fun started after we downed a bottle of Red Horse beer. Lols. During our back and forth walkathon, saw some friends too!

After 2 hours of fun, we decided to take a break and have dinner...

Also met up with my childhood friend Rap!
also nice seeing you Jeff and Mac! (not in photo hehe)

After 2 last ikots in Baseline (and after a few more Pit Senyor ladies... haha landee), we decided it was time to retire and head home. Didn't happen agad agad though! It was super hard to catch a cab or even a jeep that we had to walk home. As in pang Life of Pi experience na sha. It was a blessing that I was with Ana and we had lots of things to talk and joke about, it eased our burdens and made our long journey home so much bearable. Nakakabaliw at nakakaaliw. Haha.

one of our stopovers

 we made it home!!!

Bathed as soon as we arrived and passed out as soon as our bodies touched our bed. It was definitely one for the books. Excited to embark on a new adventure next year. See you again January Cebu!:))
